About the University of Toronto and Scholarship

The grounds that encircle Queen’s Park, Toronto, Ontario, Canada’s University of Toronto (UToronto or U of T) is a public research university. King’s College, the first university in Upper Canada, was founded by royal permission in 1827. After the university broke away from the Church of England and became a secular institution, it adopted its present name in 1850. It is a collegiate institution with 11 colleges, each having a significant degree of institutional and financial autonomy as well as unique personalities and histories. St. George, the oldest of the university’s three campuses, is located right in the middle of Toronto. The other two satellite campuses are located, respectively, in Mississauga and Scarborough.

At the University of Toronto, there are about 700 undergraduate programs and 200 graduate ones. The institution, along with McGill Institution, is one of two members of the Association of American Universities outside of the United States and gets the greatest endowment and financing for scientific research annually of any Canadian university. Academically, the Toronto School—commonly referred to as the Toronto School—in literary criticism and communication theory is renowned for its important movements and curriculum. With more than 97,000 students, it is the largest institution in Canada in terms of enrollment.

Three Governors General of Canada, five Canadian Prime Ministers (including William Lyon Mackenzie King and Lester B. Pearson), nine world leaders, and 17 judges of the Supreme Court of Canada are all alumni of the University of Toronto. As of 2019, the institution had ties to 12 Nobel laureates, six Turing Award recipients, 94 Rhodes Scholars, and one Fields Medalist. The institution was the site of the first successful lung transplant and nerve transplant as well as the origin of stem cell and insulin research.

The Accenture Scholarship is an in-course scholarship fund given to undergraduate students who are actively involved in extracurricular activities and are pursuing a degree in engineering, computer science, or business in their last year of study.

Eligibility Criteria for the University of Toronto Accenture Scholarship

Candidates are advised to meet the following conditions to be qualified for the University of Toronto Accenture Scholarship:

  • Be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in engineering, computer science, or business.
  • Be begin their last year of undergraduate studies in September while in their third year of study.
  • Possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have maintained an excellent academic record.
  • Actively participate in two or more extracurricular activities, such as organized sports teams or activities, and professional or social groups.
  • Reaffirm your commitment and active engagement.

Selection Criteria

  • An award letter will typically be emailed to recipients by the university registrar’s office one month after the application deadline.
  • You should keep the award letter for future reference since it contains information on how the prize will be paid out.

Application Procedure for the University of Toronto Accenture Scholarship

New for Fall 2023 / Winter 2024: The Winter semester will see the distribution of all in-course awards. The application will expire at 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024. There is only one application needed. One U of T Student Award Application Form can be used to submit applications for various grants.
