Aims of the Scholarship
The University of Alberta Scholarships in Canada for International Students are funded by the Canadian Government, the Alberta Government, and other institutions. The specifics of the offered scholarships are as follows:
- Entrance Scholarships:
Students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees are eligible to apply for these scholarships. Since these scholarships are automatically awarded to all accepted students, no separate application is necessary.
- International Student Scholarships:
First-year undergraduate students with a valid student visa permit are eligible for these awards. The scholarships have a $9,000 maximum value and have a four-year repayment period.
- Gold Standard Scholarship:
Students who achieve academic excellence and rank in the top 5% of their class are eligible for these awards. Up to $6,000 may be awarded in scholarships.
- Doctoral Recruitment Scholarship:
These scholarships provide $5,000 in financial aid each year to help with tuition costs and are targeted at Ph.D. applicants.
- Masters Degree Entrance Scholarship:
Master’s degree candidates will get a stipend of $17,500. International applicants will also get an extra $10,000 to help with expenses.
- Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES):
A $15,000 stipend to assist with living expenses and tuition is available to students pursuing master’s and doctoral degrees.
