About the University Of New England and Award
Nestled in the heart of northern central New South Wales, the University of New England (UNE) stands as a testament to academic excellence and pioneering spirit. Established as the first Australian university outside a capital city, UNE has become a cornerstone of higher education in the country. With approximately 22,500 higher education students, the university has been a focal point for those seeking quality education in a unique setting.
UNE’s main campus is located in the city of Armidale, offering a distinctive backdrop for students to embark on their academic journeys. In the 2019 Student Experience Survey, UNE garnered significant acclaim, recording the sixth-highest student satisfaction rating among all Australian universities. Notably, it secured the highest student satisfaction rating among public universities in New South Wales, underscoring its commitment to providing an enriching educational experience. The overall satisfaction rating of 83.2 reflects the university’s dedication to fostering an environment where students thrive.
While UNE’s reputation may rank slightly lower in research-based rankings of Australian universities, its commitment to academic excellence remains unwavering. The university serves as a hub for innovation and learning, attracting individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
In line with its commitment to global engagement and research, UNE introduces the UNE International Postgraduate Research Award (UNE IPRA) scholarship. This prestigious scholarship is designed to attract top-quality international candidates aspiring to pursue a research degree at UNE. The scholarship not only signifies the university’s recognition of outstanding talent but also serves as a testament to its commitment to fostering a vibrant and diverse research community.
Recipients of the UNE IPRA scholarship can anticipate a fixed annual stipend of $32,192.00 (2024 base rate), delivered tax-free for full-time candidates. This stipend, provided in fortnightly installments, is granted for three years for those pursuing a doctoral degree and two years for candidates undertaking a Research Master’s degree on a full-time basis.
