The University of Amsterdam will appoint the chosen candidates to the postdoctoral position with a salary that will start at €2541 gross per month in the first year and rise to €3247 in the final year, based on full-time employment and by the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities. In addition, they provide a generous array of extra perks, such as an 8.3% year-end bonus and an 8% holiday allowance.

International Ph.D. Position Planning for Urban Blue Justice in Global North and Global South – Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are advised to meet the following conditions to be eligible for the International Ph.D. Position Planning for Urban Blue Justice in Global North and Global South at the University of Amsterdam: 

  • International students from the Netherlands and other nations are also welcome to apply.
  • Candidates may apply for the Ph.D. at the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
  • The following requirements must be met by candidates to be considered:
  1. A (Research) Master’s degree in human geography, urban and regional planning, urban studies, international development studies, or a closely related discipline is required of applicants. Participants having experience in more than one of the aforementioned fields will be given preference.
  2. The candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in political science or a closely related social science to be eligible for admission.
  • Students must submit their results from the following English language proficiency exams: TOEFL PBT – 600, IELTS – 7.0, TOEFL IBT – 100

Required Documents:

The university requires the following paperwork from the students:

  • A resume with the names and contact information of two references;
  • Motivational letter of no more than 750 words;
  • In your research statement, you should outline your first approaches to the issue and provide relevant (and workable, given your expertise and talents) proposals. cities in the Global North and South case study (maximum 500 words);
  • English writing examples, such as a thesis chapter, book chapter, or assignment.
