The NUORS award pays the difference in domestic and foreign fee rates; the exact amount for 2024–2025 is not yet known. The 2023–2024 value, which varied based on the tuition price band, roughly varied from £16,188 to £24,088 per year. The grant is good for the whole regular PhD period, which cannot be more than three years.
Eligibility Criteria for Newcastle University Overseas Research Scholarships (NUORS)
Applicants are advised to meet the following prerequisites to be qualified for Newcastle University Overseas Research Scholarships (NUORS):
- Countries of Eligibility: International students are welcome.
- Acceptable Course or Subjects: Newcastle University offers scholarships in any topic.
- Acceptable Requirements: Candidates must be fully or partially self-financing, have received an offer of admission to a PhD research program, and be classified as international for fee reasons.
- It is necessary to intend to register for classes in the 2024–2025 academic year. The program is limited to studies conducted at the Newcastle Campus, and applications cannot be accepted for courses that have already started.
- Admission Standards: To be considered for a PhD program, applicants must fulfill the university’s admission standards.
- Language Requirement: Applicants must fulfill all of the university’s English language requirements.
Note: Applications submitted without it won’t be taken into account. Furthermore, candidates must apply for courses offered at the Newcastle Campus; this prize is not available for courses offered in Malaysia or Singapore.
