About Kingston University London and Scholarship
Kingston University London, a prominent public research institution nestled within the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames in South West London, England, has a rich history that traces its roots to the establishment of the Kingston Technical Institute in 1899. Achieving university status in 1992, the institution underwent a transformative journey from its earlier identity as Kingston Polytechnic.
With an enrollment of approximately 17,000 students and a robust financial turnover of £192 million, Kingston University stands out as a dynamic educational hub. The university operates across four campuses strategically located in Kingston and Roehampton, offering specialized programs in arts, design, fashion, science, engineering, and business. Kingston University offers a broad and all-encompassing academic experience. It is divided into four faculties: the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Health, Science, Social Care and Education, and the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and the Environment.
Remarkable honors highlight the university’s dedication to quality. Kingston University’s commitment to offering a top-notch learning environment was recognized in 2017 when it was awarded The Guardian University Award for teaching excellence. After its January 2020 opening, Kingston’s architectural reputation was cemented when the famous Town House building won the coveted Stirling Prize from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in 2021 and the Mies van der Rohe Architecture award for the finest building in the European Union in 2022.
Kingston University’s June 2021 launch of the Future Skills campaign demonstrates the university’s commitment to developing future skill sets. The university’s appreciation of the critical role skills play in promoting innovation and a strong UK economy is evident in this effort. In collaboration with YouGov, surveys were given to 1,000 students and close to 2,000 businesses in 2021 and 2022. Skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, flexibility, and creativity are highly valued by employers, and the findings demonstrated the ongoing significance of these competencies.
Kingston University provides a 10% tuition price concession to its graduates who are pursuing postgraduate programs, such as PGCE, MArch in Architecture, postgraduate teaching courses, and postgraduate research. This shows how Kingston University is dedicated to supporting a culture of continuous learning and development by helping its former students pursue further education.
