About the University of Queensland and Scholarship
A variety of support and student services are maintained by the University of Queensland. Student Centers on the campuses in St. Lucia and Gatton offer support and informational services.
The donor wants to help a student in need pursue an MPhil degree (or equivalent) in the study of classical literature, ancient history, ancient philosophy, or archaeology of the ancient Mediterranean through their donation. They have a preference for research about the study of the language and culture of ancient Greece.
The Elias and Ellene Eliadis Scholarship is given in honor of Dr. Paul Eliadis AM’s parents, whose mother was born in Sydney of Greek parents who were originally from the island of Samos and whose father was born on the island of Karpathos and immigrated to Australia just before World War Two in pursuit of a brighter future. This award honors their lives and recognizes how their families and aspirations have brought the two nations closer together.
