About the University of Southern Denmark and Scholarship
The University of Southern Denmark (SDU), known as Syddansk Universitet in Danish, stands as a prominent institution with campuses scattered across Southern Denmark and Zealand. Its global recognition has been evident since the inception of ranking systems in 2012, consistently securing positions within the top 50 universities under 50 years old.
Over the years, SDU has showcased its academic prowess by securing positions such as 36th (2012), 38th (2013), 37th (2014), and 44th (2015) in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings’ Top 100 Universities Under 50 List. Additionally, it has been featured among the Top 50 Universities Under 50 according to the QS World University Rankings from 2012 to 2015.
The university’s six campuses are strategically located, predominantly in the southern part of Denmark. These include campus Odense on the picturesque island of Funen, campus Slagelse, and campus Copenhagen on the bustling island of Zealand, as well as campus Kolding, campus Esbjerg, and campus Alsion in Sønderborg, all situated on the Jutland peninsula.
The physical footprint of SDU has undergone significant expansion, with its buildings covering an impressive area of 272,554 square meters in 2007, showcasing substantial growth from the 181,450 square meters in 1999 when the university merger took place.
In its commitment to fostering international education, the Danish Government, in collaboration with the University of Southern Denmark, extends scholarships to deserving overseas candidates of the highest caliber. This initiative is a testament to the recognition of the substantial investment made by international students in their educational pursuits.
The Danish Government Scholarship program, facilitated by the University of Southern Denmark, provides a limited number of scholarships to exceptionally qualified applicants. These scholarships come in the form of full or partial tuition fee waivers. A partial tuition fee waiver specifically covers the tuition fee for one year, encompassing the second and fourth semesters, while students are responsible for covering the tuition for the first and third semesters.
It is important to note that the fee waivers are designed to cover 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) per semester, and any courses exceeding this limit are not covered by the fee waiver. For further details on terms of payment and tuition fee rates, interested individuals are advised to refer to the university’s Tuition fee guidelines.
