Bryant Hall, established on land leased from the University of Waikato in 1971, serves as a Hall of Residence. It was originally intended for local students attending the University, offering a supportive residential environment primarily for first-year students. Over the years, it has also accommodated a smaller number of senior undergraduate and graduate students who contribute to tutorial assistance and develop enriching academic, cultural, and social activities within the Hall.

In 2004, Bryant Hall came under the ownership and operation of The University of Waikato. However, the commitment of the D. V. Bryant Trust, which originally established Bryant Hall, to foster academic development opportunities for students in the Waikato region continues through the D.V. Bryant Trust University of Waikato Residential Scholarships. This scholarship program is a testament to the enduring dedication to supporting students in their pursuit of higher education and personal growth.
