University of Queensland Professor Victoria Atkinson Medical Student Scholarship in Australia for 2023

About the University of Queensland and Scholarship
The main campus of the public research university known as the University of Queensland (UQ, or Queensland University) is located in Brisbane, Queensland’s state capital. UQ was founded in 1909 by the Queensland government and is one of the six institutions that have this name. It is also one of the six Sandstone universities and the oldest university in each state. The University of Queensland is placed second in Australia and 42nd globally in 2023 according to a compilation of the three most prestigious global university rankings. Additionally, UQ is a founding member of edX, the top Group of Eight in Australia, as well as the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, an organization with a focus on global research.
Southwest of Brisbane’s central business area, the main St. Lucia campus takes up a large portion of the inner-city neighborhood of St. Lucia beside a river. The Gatton campus and the Mayne Medical School are the two biggest UQ campuses and facilities in Queensland. UQ has facilities around the world, including the UQ-Ochsner Clinical School in Louisiana, the United States, and the UQ North America headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The university bestows associate, bachelor, master, doctoral, and further doctorate degrees through a college, a graduate school, and six faculties. Molecular Bioscience Institute, Boeing Research, and Technology Australia Center, Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, and UQ Dow Centre for Sustainable Engineering Innovation are just a few of the more than 100 research institutes and centers UQ houses and provides research programs at.
The institution has recently conducted some noteworthy research, including the discovery of the HPV vaccination that protects cervical cancer, the COVID-19 vaccine that is currently undergoing human trials, and the creation of high-performance superconducting MRI magnets for on-the-go scanning of human limbs.

Professor Victoria Atkinson founded the Professor Victoria Atkinson Medical Student Scholarship in 2020 as part of the Create Change Scholarship Match Initiative. A senior staff expert in medical oncology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Associate Professor Victoria Atkinson graduated from the University of Queensland’s MBBS program in 1998. A/Prof Atkinson wants to encourage talented, deserving medical students at the UQ Faculty of Medicine because she is grateful for the opportunities provided to her.

Eligibility Criteria for Professor Victoria Atkinson Medical Student Scholarship
Applicants are advised to meet the following conditions to be eligible for the Professor Victoria Atkinson Medical Student Scholarship at the University of Queensland:
- Be enrolled full-time in a doctor of medicine program;
- Be able to show financial need;
- Not be receiving another scholarship that the dean would deem comparable.
Selection Standards
The scholarship will consider:
- Exhibited need for money
- Any other factor the selection committee deems important to your future progress in your education.
- The strength of your statement which is to indicate how the scholarship will help you finish the Doctor of Medicine.
Note that: A female applicant who has the best merit may receive preference.
