About Lancaster University and Scholarship

Nestled in the historic city of Lancaster, Lancashire, England, Lancaster University, officially known as The University of Lancaster, stands as a distinguished public research institution. Established in 1964 by royal charter, it emerged as one of the noteworthy universities created during the transformative era of the 1960s.

In its initial years, the university found its home in St Leonard’s Gate in the city center before embarking on a monumental move in 1967 to a purpose-built campus sprawling across 300 acres at Bailrigg, situated 4 km to the south of the city. The architectural layout of the campus features a central walkway known as the Spine, intricately connected to a central plaza named Alexandra Square, paying homage to its inaugural chancellor, Princess Alexandra.

Financially robust, the institution reported an annual income of £381.0 million for the fiscal year 2022/23, with £46.4 million sourced from research grants and contracts, against an expenditure of £345.0 million.

Over the years, Lancaster has not only earned accolades in national rankings but has also made a mark on the global stage, securing a position within the top 150 worldwide in renowned global rankings.
