About Imperial College London and Scholarship
Imperial College London, officially known as the Imperial College of Science, Technology, and Medicine, holds a distinguished position as a leading public research university in the vibrant city of London, England. Rooted in a visionary legacy that began with Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria, the institution’s history is intertwined with the development of a cultural enclave featuring iconic landmarks such as the Royal Albert Hall, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum, and several esteemed royal colleges.
The amalgamation of the City and Guilds of London Institute, the Royal College of Science, and the Royal School of Mines led to the creation of Imperial College London, which was established by royal charter in 1907. Imperial’s dedication to expanding knowledge in science, engineering, business, and medicine was cemented by this momentous merger. Following a merger with St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School, the Imperial College School of Medicine was integrated into the school in 1988, marking the continuation of its growth. The Imperial College Business School was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004, which gave the academic environment at the university a new facet.
As evidence of Imperial’s dedication to inclusive education worldwide, the university has launched a new scholarship program designed to assist Ph.D. candidates from sub-Saharan Africa. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, reflecting Imperial’s dedication to diverse fields of study, offers a range of scholarships to support Ph.D. research in its various areas of expertise.
