About Stanford University and Fellowship
A private research institution in Stanford, California is known as Stanford University (formally known as Leland Stanford Junior University). At 8,180 acres (3,310 hectares), the campus is one of the biggest in the country and is home to more than 17,000 students. Stanford is regarded as one of the world’s most distinguished universities.
To build and maintain strong democratic communities, the university is looking for journalists who are willing to investigate, find, and test ideas for enhancing people’s access to news and information. To focus on this work and the fellowship programs they have created to assist them in building the leadership resilience required for these unpredictable times, applicants should be ready to take a leave of absence from their professional commitments.
You should apply if you:
- Feel that your finest work is still ahead of you and that you want to develop as a journalist and leader.
- Are thrilled about the chance to receive coaching that will involve a thorough analysis of your thinking, how you see yourself, and where you fit in the media industry?
- Desire to be “in fellowship” with a group of journalists who come from a variety of experiences, both personally and professionally.
- Seek, welcome, and give priority to diversity
- Are prepared to abandon your current job and go on a 10-month journey of personal and professional discovery?
- Are dedicated to their career in journalism.
JSK directors will respond to inquiries on the program and the application via a series of webinars that the organization intends to hold via Zoom. On Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 9 a.m. Pacific time, there will be a webinar.
The Experience
A JSK Fellowship combines a one-on-one experience with twice-weekly cohort activities, such as skill-building sessions, leadership seminars, and talks with visiting experts. Fellows have a great deal of autonomy in determining how they spend their time and tackle the journalistic problem they choose to concentrate on, aside from these obligations to the cohort. Every fellow has frequent meetings with their major adviser for the year, one of the JSK directors. There’s no one magic formula for a fellowship year that works.
