Benefits:
Australian and international students can apply for scholarships from the University of Melbourne worth up to $140,000. It pays $40,000 annually for the first 3.5 years of a full-time PhD candidacy and up to 6 months after that, at the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarships (RTP) rate, if an extension is approved. Subject to the guidelines provided here, recipients are eligible for the same advantages as the RTP. One of the scholarship’s main components is a mentorship program that offers beneficial experience in postsecondary education and community outreach related to history.

- Acceptable Standards: To qualify, candidates need to fulfill the requirements:
Fulfill the prerequisites for admission to the full-time Doctor of Philosophy – Arts (DR-PHILART) program in history; Possess the minimum first-class honors result from the qualifying degree; and Plan to enroll in a full-time Doctor of Philosophy – Arts (Ph.D.) program in history for the upcoming academic year.
- Admission Requirements: Before enrolling, applicants must review the program’s requirements for admission.
- Language Requirement: Students with an overall IELTS score of 6.5 and no band lower than 6.0 satisfy the English requirements (only for foreign candidates).

Candidates must submit the following:
- An academic transcript, a cover letter, and a resume along with their application.
- A 500-word declaration summarizing their opinions about the value of teaching history and the subject’s place in society;
- A synopsis of the proposed supervisor and PhD project;
